Aims of the course

  1. To enable educators, health care professionals, pastors, counsellors, and similar professionals to provide emotional care with confidence and competency to make a meaningful contribution to the wholistic well-being of people in our spheres of influence experiencing trauma individually and/or collectively.
  2. To provide knowledge and skills in the practical aspects of caring for victims of emotional trauma, abuse, and violence. (This point seems like a repeat of point 1)
  3. To equip trainers with the knowledge, skills and attitude required to become effective trainers of emotional trauma caregivers in educational, healthcare, and spiritual settings.
  4. To enable research in the domain of emotional health and trauma and in the developing of preventive and healing strategies.

Entry criteria:

  • Graduate degree or higher qualification in any discipline.
  • A statement from candidates indicating how the training will benefit their present or future role in emotional health care and training.
  • The candidate’s life, work, and values should be congruent with their role as caregivers or caregiver trainers.
